Capable for a very long time
Women in Westchester are often managing the commute, the career, the house, and the calendar, and doing it well. When capability becomes an identity, it can be hard to admit that something underneath hurts. Many of Miriam’s clients learned early that being competent was the safest way to be loved. Therapy offers a place to be something other than capable for fifty minutes a week.
Fitting therapy into a commuter’s week
If you are on the Metro-North most days, adding an appointment in the city or back in the county can feel impossible. Video sessions meet you where you are: at home before the train, in a closed office at lunch, or in the evening after the house is quiet. Appointments are in Eastern Time, and consistency is easier when there is no travel to plan.
What the work can look like
Care starts with what you need now and what helps you feel steady. When you are ready, the work may explore childhood experiences, a difficult relationship with a mother or mother figure, and the protective patterns you built. Inner-child work, IFS, somatic awareness, and EMDR for specific memories may be part of the process. Miriam explains the options and you decide what feels relevant.
