Strong for everyone, tired inside
Many women in The Bronx became responsible early. You may have looked after siblings, translated for parents, or learned to read a room before you could read a book. That kind of strength is real, and it also has a cost. Adults who grew up this way often find it hard to rest, to ask for help, or to believe their own needs matter.
Therapy does not ask you to give up your strength. It gives you a place to set it down for fifty minutes and notice what is underneath.
Care that comes to you
Getting to a therapist’s office in Manhattan can mean an hour on the train each way. Video sessions remove that barrier. You can meet from home, from a quiet room at work, or anywhere in The Bronx with privacy and a stable connection. Appointments are in Eastern Time and can be scheduled around work and family.
If you are new to therapy, the free consultation is a low-pressure way to see what it feels like to talk with Miriam before committing to anything.
Understanding what you learned
When approval felt conditional or a parent’s emotions filled the home, children adapt. Some become perfectionists, some become peacekeepers, some learn to disappear. Miriam uses inner-child work, IFS, and, when helpful, EMDR for specific childhood memories to help you understand those adaptations with compassion and begin to choose differently now.
