Holding everyone together
Brooklyn is a borough of households, blocks, and communities that lean on each other. For many women, that also means being the one who remembers everything, shows up for everyone, and quietly goes without. If saying no brings guilt, or if you feel responsible for other people’s moods, those patterns may trace back to a childhood where your needs came last.
In therapy, there is room to notice those patterns without judging them. You can explore what your younger self needed, how you learned to cope, and what it would mean to make room for yourself now.
Therapy that fits around Brooklyn life
Video sessions remove the commute. Whether you are near the Barclays Center, deep in Flatbush, or out by the water in Bay Ridge, a session happens wherever you have a quiet room and a connection. Clients meet from home while children are at school, from a parked car during a lunch break, or after the apartment goes quiet in the evening.
Because appointments are in Eastern Time, scheduling is straightforward. Miriam works with you to find a window that can stay consistent.
The mother wound and inner-child work
Many women come to Miriam because their relationship with their mother or a mother figure still hurts, or because they recognize themselves in the belief that love has to be earned. Inner-child work, paired with Internal Family Systems (IFS), gives that younger part of you a place to be heard. EMDR may be used for specific childhood memories when it fits. There is no requirement to confront, blame, forgive, or reconnect with anyone.
