What anxiety therapy means here

Anxiety therapy is psychotherapy for persistent worry, tension, overthinking, and a nervous system that struggles to settle, even when life looks stable from the outside. It helps you understand where anxiety shows up in your body, what situations place you on alert, and which beliefs keep the cycle going. For many women, anxious patterns such as perfectionism, over-responsibility, and rehearsing every conversation began in childhood, when approval felt conditional or staying alert felt necessary. At Healing + Renewal, Miriam Klein, LCSW, offers anxiety therapy to adult women in Hollywood, Florida and virtually across Florida and New York. Care combines grounding and regulation practices with exploration of the roots of anxious patterns, and may draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), inner-child work, somatic awareness, or EMDR when earlier experiences are relevant. You do not have to wait until anxiety feels unmanageable to ask for support.

You may be capable and successful while feeling unable to switch off. Miriam helps women explore anxious patterns such as overthinking, perfectionism, and feeling responsible for everyone else. When early experiences are relevant, there is room to understand that connection alongside support for daily life.

Miriam helps you notice where anxiety appears in your body and practice ways to feel more grounded. Depending on your needs, care may also draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and inner-child work. Together, you can explore whether familiar worries are connected to earlier experiences of needing to stay alert or earn approval.

Common questions

Questions about anxiety therapy.

What is high-functioning anxiety?

High-functioning anxiety is an informal term, not a diagnosis, for anxiety that coexists with outward success. A woman may meet every deadline and hold everything together while privately overthinking, struggling to sleep, and feeling unable to relax. Because it looks like competence from the outside, it is often overlooked. Therapy can address it without requiring anything to fall apart first.

Is anxiety connected to childhood?

It can be. Growing up where approval felt conditional, where a parent’s mood was unpredictable, or where staying alert felt necessary can teach the nervous system to remain on guard. Not all anxiety has this origin, and therapy does not assume it does. When early experiences are relevant, there is room to explore them alongside practical support for daily life.

Will I learn coping skills, or only talk about the past?

Both. Early sessions include practical ways to help your body settle, such as grounding and regulation practices you can use between sessions. Alongside those tools, you and Miriam explore the patterns and experiences beneath the worry. Skills and understanding support each other; neither is left out.

Can anxiety therapy be done online?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available for clients located in Florida or New York during the session, and in-office appointments are available in Hollywood, Florida. Many women find it easier to settle in a familiar space. You can also combine formats over time as your schedule and needs change.

What if my anxiety includes panic attacks?

Panic symptoms are a common part of anxiety, and they can be addressed in therapy. Early work focuses on understanding what is happening in your body and practicing ways to move through a wave of panic with more steadiness. If you have medical concerns about physical symptoms, Miriam may also encourage you to check in with your physician.
